VERSUS – 2020 Buick Encore Preferred vs. 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT – What is the difference?

The 2020 Buick Encore Preferred and the 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT are compact crossovers that are both similar and different.

Aside from the brand difference of Buick and Chevrolet both crossovers differ in other ways as well. The graphic below gives an overview of the two models.

Overview

At a quick glance, the text in gold signifies that the model with the highlighted text could be considered better for that specific option. You will notice that there are quite a few similarities throughout each category, but let’s take a look at what makes these two SUV’s different.

Powertrain

When it comes to gas mileage, the Buick Encore and Chevrolet Trax provide drivers with the exact same city and highway gas mileage. The crossovers are also the same when it comes to horsepower, drive train and transmission.

Safety

The Safety category also has its share of similarities between the Buick Encore and the Chevrolet Trax but they do differ when it comes to the number of airbags. Both Front Head Airbag and Rear Head Airbag are are standard on the 2020 Buick Encore Preferred, but both are not available in the 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT.

All of the other Safety options are standard between both, but we would say that the Buick Encore pulls ahead for this category.

Seating

Seating is another important category when considering which make and model to purchase, especially if you are a commuter!

This category is where the two models differ the most. When it comes to the 2020 Buick Encore, both Power Driver Seat and Premium Synthetic Seats are standard.  These options are also available on the 2020 Chevrolet Trax, but the Trax comes standard with Cloth Seats.

Dimensions

Each model seats 5 passengers, so the capacity is the same, but headroom and legroom is where the models differ from one another. There is slightly more front headroom in the Chevrolet Trax, and we mean slightly! The Chevrolet Trax is also taller overall as well.

Front legroom and shoulder room is a bit more spacious in the Buick Encore but again, not by much, and the Encore is also slightly longer than the Chevrolet Trax

Accessories

Time to accessorize! Both the Buick Encore and the Chevrolet Trax offer drivers a selection of accessories that come standard and others that are available to add.

The Chevrolet Trax is superior in this category as it has more standard accessories as well as more that are available to add. A Power Outlet and Remote Start are both standard on the Trax, where as they are avaialble to add on the Encore for an extra cost. Automatic Headlights are also standard, and these are not available on the preferred trim level of the Buick Encore.

Both Premium Sound System and Rear Parking Aid are also available to be added to the Chevrolet Trax but not to the Buick Encore!

The 2020 Buick Encore Preferred and 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT are both compact crossovers with options and features that are similar and some that are different. After reviewing all of the options, which would you choose?
