From a price standpoint, the 2020 GMC Terrain SLE starts at $33,498 CAD where as the 2020 GMC Acadia SLE starts at $40,598. 

Powertrain

The 2020 GMC Terrain SLE provides drivers with better gas mileage for both city and highway according to the EnerGuide Estimate. The highway gas mileage is similar to that of the 2020 GMC Acadia SLE, only differing by .4 of a litre, but the Terrain does far better in the city with just under a 2-litre difference!

Taking a closer look, the gas mileage difference makes sense when we look at the net horsepower for the two vehicles. Although both vehicles sport a 9-speed transmission, The Acadia offers 230 horsepower at 5000 RPM, where the Terrain offers 170 horsepower at 5600 RPM.

It wouldn’t be fair to pick an overall winner or loser for this category considering that both models offer a different type of drive.

Safety

When it comes to safety, the 2020 GMC Terrain and GMC Acadia are comparable in terms of features. All airbags come standard on both models, and Blind-Spot Monitoring and Cross-Traffic Alert are available to add.

The GMC Terrain pulls ahead when it comes to Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist, as both of these features come standard. Lane departure warning is available to add to the GMC Acadia for a price, but Lane Keep Assist is not an option.

Seating

Seating is what really sets these two models apart. The GMC Terrain will seat 5 where as the GMC Acadia will seat 7, and therefore has a standard 3rd row seat. A split bench seat is standard on the GMC Acadia and rear bucket seats are available to add. The front seats share all of the same features including standard Power Driver Seat, Driver Adjustable Lumbar and Heated Front Seats.

Which SUV seating is right for you? Well, it depends how many people you need to accomodate! Family of 5? The GMC Terrain will suit you just fine. Family of 6 or 7? Well then say hello to the GMC Acadia!

Dimensions

As discussed previously, The GMC Acadia will seat 2 more people then the GMC Terrain and therefore is slightly longer. In terms of interior space, both models offer the same amount of front headroom. The GMC Acadia offers a bit more space when it comes to the front leg room and shoulder room, offering both the driver and passenger a bit more space to stretch out!

Accessories

Lastly, accessories! Who doesn’t love all the fancy bells and whistles available to add now a days?

The GMC Acadia comes standard with more accessories than the GMC Terrain, but there are more accessories available to add to the GMC Terrain at the SLE trim level.

Te 2020 GMC Acadia SLE comes standard with Rear A/C, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Intermittent Wipers, Satellite Radio, and Power Liftgate.

On the 2020 GMC Terrain, you have the option to add Navigation as well as Adaptive Cruise Control, both of which are not available at all on the GMC Acadia.
