2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Preview

A teaser photo of the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X.

What is the GMC Canyon AT4X?

GMC earned its place atop the pickup truck segment by producing high-performing, capable, and well-equipped platforms for professionals. Both the current models of the GMC Sierra 1500 and Canyon continue the automaker’s legacy of pushing beyond the status quo. When the 2023 model year gets underway, our manufacturing partner will add a new entry to its trim ladder to deliver new off-road and luxury experiences. So, what is the GMC Canyon AT4X? At the most basic level, the Canyon AT4X will join its Sierra AT4X counterpart in changing the way Ernie Dean GM customers view off-road-ready pickup trucks. Let’s take a look at what we know about this new Canyon version before it’s officially unveiled to the public this summer.

2023 Canyon AT4X Features

We will certainly deliver more news about the available features that will come with the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X when the curtain is officially pulled back. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t know anything about the newest member of the Canyon family. In the teaser photo (at the top of this page) released by our manufacturing partner, we do see a few interesting features. At the very least, the 2023 Canyon AT4X will have:

  • AT4X badges
  • Rock rails
  • 17-Inch beadlock-capable wheels

While we won’t see an official 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X equipment list for a little while, it’s important to remember that this isn’t the first AT4X trim grade we’ve ever seen. The 2022 Sierra 1500 offers an AT4X model and it could give us a clue to what we’ll see on the Canyon AT4X. We are very likely to see the latest Canyon model arrive at the Ernie Dean GM showroom with features like:

  • Upgraded suspension components
  • More refined interior options
  • Standard four-wheel-drive
  • Trailering package
  • Recovery hooks
  • Skid plates
  • Fixed cargo tie-downs

Technology for the 2023 Canyon AT4X

There is no reason to believe that the coming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X won’t be equipped with all of the latest connectivity technology our automaker has to offer. Our product experts expect that the new Canyon AT4X will be equipped with Google Built-In, with features that will include enhanced voice-recognition capability and more. Wireless connections for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are likely. Compatibility with Amazon Alexa is also almost certainly going to be included with the new Canyon iteration.
